About Us

Who We Are

We are a vibrant community of active older adults aged 50 and above who use football as a fun, energizing way to stay healthy. Founded in Kenya, we believe age is just a number—our passion for fitness, teamwork, and well-being keeps us young at heart.

What We Believe

We believe that staying active is the best medicine. Through sport, we can age with strength, dignity, and joy. Every kick, pass, and goal helps fight lifestyle diseases and builds a stronger, happier community.

Our History

The Kenya Grannies (Masters) Football Federation (KGFF) was born from a visionary idea by Dr. Elizabeth J. Keitany, a passionate advocate for healthy aging and community wellness. As a medical professional and community mobilizer, Dr. Keitany witnessed firsthand the rising health challenges facing older adults, especially women—many of whom were battling lifestyle diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and depression due to physical inactivity and social isolation.

Inspired by the power of sports to transform lives, she envisioned a movement where elderly women and men could stay active, engaged, and empowered through football—a sport traditionally seen as youth-centered. What started as a small group of grannies coming together for fun and exercise quickly gained attention for its unique approach to promoting health and happiness in later life.
